31 Threads of Pain

Project type

Digital drawings (31 parts)

Date

October 2025

31 drawings. 31 days. A body constantly reassembling itself.

For Inktober 2025, I used the official terminology of the drawing project to find a visual language for chronic migraine. Each image was created digitally - in layers, hatching, and superimpositions. The starting point was my own photographs, fragments, and body postures. I deconstructed, distorted, and reassembled them.

This resulted in a series of 31 black-and-white works with red accents - lines against the invisible, attempts to make pain visible without repeating it.

I wanted to understand whether pain can be drawn.

Whether it can be tamed through lines, through repetition, through the patient filling of empty spaces. And whether digital tools can tell us something about control and letting go.

The series is part of my ongoing artistic archive on migraine - a space between documentation, body research, and visual poetry.

Prompt List Inktober 2025:

Moustache · Weave · Crown · Murky · Deer · Pierce · Starfish · Reckless · Heavy · Sweep · Sting · Shredded · Drink · Trunk · Ragged · Blunder · Ornate · Deal · Arctic · Rivals · Blast · Button · Firefly · Rowdy · Inferno · Puzzling · Onion · Skeletal · Lesson · Vacant · Award

All my digital Inktober drawings are based on a visual research process. I use photographic references to study light, structure, and expression, and then interpret them in my own visual language. A curated collection of these references can be viewed on my Pinterest profile.
