MAKING THE INVISIBLE VISIBLE
An artistic dialogue space about migraine
How can we make visible experiences for which words are often lacking?
"Making the Invisible Visible" is a participatory art project in cooperation with the Kiel Pain Clinic. Patients and professionals jointly develop artistic forms of expression for the difficult-to-describe experiences of migraine. The central question is how art can open up new spaces for communication, understanding, and social visibility.
BACKGROUND
Migraine affects approximately 15% of the population and is one of the most common neurological disorders. Nevertheless, many aspects of the condition are insufficiently addressed in everyday life and in medical discussions.
Migraine is more than just pain. It encompasses perceptual changes, exhaustion, sensory overload, and social challenges. This project explores how artistic methods can help make these experiences visible and discussable.
