Dropped Hours

"Dropped Hours" is a crocheted translation of my 2024 migraine calendar, in which each stitch represents a single hour.

Pain-free hours appear in deep blue—evoking the tranquility of the sea. On migraine days, only the hours spent in pain are crocheted: mild pain in purple, moderate pain in indigo, and severe pain in vibrant magenta. The missing stitches mark the hours lost to the illness - time that vanishes from daily life. The yarn ends remain untied, hanging in loops and tangles, reflecting the chaotic, uncontrollable nature of chronic pain.

Although the work appears colorful and rhythmic at first glance, it exudes a quiet resistance: a refusal to make visible the invisible, so often overlooked.
