Postures of endurance

This vertical painting captures three emotional and physical states within the cycle of chronic pain. Against the backdrop of a painted seascape viewed from above - deep blue, green sea, white spray, and golden light—three open shells rise, increasing in size from bottom to top. Each shell encloses a wire figure: curled up in the fetal position at the bottom, sitting in silent grief in the middle, and standing upright with arms outstretched at the top.

The work reflects the shifting inner states of living with a chronic illness: from breakdown and isolation through grief and reflection to moments of rare, liberating strength. The shells serve as both refuge and container - fragile bodies within fragile bodies, shaped by unseen forces and inner currents.
