Erlöse uns... (Redeem us...)
Object series, plaster casts of pill blisters, wood, spacer mounting
The work "Erlöse uns..." explores the ambivalence of medication in chronic illness. Pill blisters cast in plaster become silent reliefs poised between hope, necessity, and societal expectations.
The work addresses the fine line between medical necessity and moral imposition: medication as a promise of relief, as a daily lifeline - but also as a source of guilt, pressure to justify oneself, and so-called "pill shaming."
Through the transformation of the functional everyday object into a fragile, almost sacred material, perception shifts: the blister loses its efficacy but retains its symbolic meaning. The serial arrangement alludes to repetition, routine, and the cyclical experience of illness.
The title "Erlöse uns..." deliberately plays with religious and existential associations without prescribing a definitive interpretation. The work remains open to supplication, doubt, and silent accusation.
