The sculpture “Ferita d’Oro” presents a smooth, minimalist form in alabaster, traversed by an irregular fracture. A fine, golden line follows this fracture, making it visible.
The outer form appears calm and closed.
Only upon closer inspection does the fracture become apparent, revealing the interior. The rough, open structure contrasts with the soft, polished surface.
The work alludes to the experience of chronic pain conditions such as migraine. It points to an inner turmoil that often remains invisible to the outside world.
The golden line runs through the raw part of the stone like a thread. It doesn't connect in the sense of repair, but rather marks a trace. A trace of what is part of the body and one's own history.
In this way, the meaning of the fracture shifts:
It doesn't represent loss, but rather what remains. A form of wholeness that embraces contradictions.
“Ferita d’Oro” unites opposites:
Hardness and softness, surface and depth, injury and form.
The work understands the break not as a disruption, but as part of the structure. Something that becomes visible - and yet still holds.
