Im Rahmen der Möglichkeiten (Within the scope of possibilities)
This work emerged from an open-ended process. Without a concrete plan, I began crocheting with leftover yarn. Crocheting has a calming effect on me and is particularly helpful during periods when migraine attacks are very frequent.
The resulting forms followed no template. Only when I laid out the crocheted strips did it become apparent that a structure had formed, reminiscent of a brain. The individual strands intertwine, overlap, and form a dense network.
The textile brain is stretched within a red-framed area. The frame comes from a previous artwork and was deliberately reused. Material, form, and process thus follow a simple logic: working with what is already available.
This adaptation also describes everyday life with migraine. Sufferers must constantly react to changing circumstances and manage limited resources.
The downward-facing threads are reminiscent of a nervous system branching out into the body. Here, they hang freely and unprotected in space - vulnerable to external stimuli. A condition familiar to many people with migraine.
